Welcome to Yew and Beech Classes

It is hard to believe we are now in the second half term. Children will have brought home their maths and writing targets. Feel free to pop in if you want to discuss these.

Useful websites to support tables practice are as follows:

Work on the Christmas production will begin soon. I'm sure the children will let you know once parts are allocated.

Homework

Spelling/literacy homework will go out on Monday and should be returned on Thursday. Spelling lists should remain at home so spellings can be practised all week.

Maths homework will go out on a Thursday or Friday and should be returned on Monday.

Blue learning logs will go out on Fridays and the children will have two weeks to complete the work. This is often topic related work and allows the children greater freedom to research and explore different forms of presentation.

We have established this pattern of homework to encourage the children to plan the use of their time effectively. We would appreciate parental support in ensuring homework is returned on time. If homework cannot be completed for any reason, the teacher should be informed. Extensions may be granted under special circumstances.

Parents, please sign homework to show your support.

General Information

The Beech & Yew team is made up of Mrs Radwell, Mrs Lester, Mrs Philpot and Mrs Read. Mrs Sarah Fussell remains with us this year as a regular supply teacher. She will be  covering YEW class on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the time being. Miss Lewis will be covering Beech class on Tuesday mornings.

PE

The children will take part in a wide variety of physical activities throughout the year.

Our PE days this term are Mondays & Tuesdays. We would like the children to bring both indoor and outdoor kits into school on Monday, leave their kits in school and then take them home on Fridays to be washed.

PE kit:

Indoor

  • shorts
  • T shirt

Outdoor (depending on weather)

  • shorts or jogging bottoms
  • T shirt and warm jumper
  • change of footwear

This half term the children will be doing football and netball. A change of footwear will be needed for when we are on the field.

Our main topic for both classes this term is Life and Changes. The main focus of the topic will be the human body, its organs and systems.
