Oak Class

Our Summer Term is well under way and we have already completed a number of pieces of work for the topics.

Our main topic is 'Rivers' and after half-term we will be contrasting life in Peterborough and Mumbai ( Near and Far). We are also taking a brief look at pond mini-beasts.

 

 SUMMER TERM TOPICS:

 

Dragonfly

SCIENCE:

We will be continuing with our science skills sessions this term, including some practical sessions to practise the skills.

We are also investigating pond life, life cycles  and identifacation keys.

Some of the work at Stibbington/Upware will reinforce classroom activities.

OTHER SUBJECTS:

ART and DESIGN TECHNOLOGY:

We are learning to sketch the features of the face, using mark making skills and shading.

To link with our topic, we will make a tie- dye booklet for our science work and a clay tablet similar to those found in the Indus Valley.

  

 

 

 GEOGRAPHY:

We will be investigating rivers and their features.This is covered in the classroom and practically during the booked schooltrip ( just before half-term).

We will also be looking at geography skills including atlas work, map reading and understanding symbols. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Medicine from the doctor.

 

 P.S.H.E.:

We are looking at different drugs and medicines that are legal and illegal. We will also find out what drugs do to our bodies.

 

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Games and PE:

Outside athletics sessions will take place on Thursday afternoons - children will need a T-shirt, shorts and trainers.

Swimming sessions will take place on Friday mornings- children will need to remember their towels and their kit.

Water Bottles:

Remember that regular drinks of water are good for you!

Bring your named 500ml clear plastic bottle every day - especially for games on Friday.
