General Aims of Our School

  • The child will be treated as an individual and every effort will be made to ensure he/she develops to his or her full potential.

  • The child will be encouraged to develop independence, be industrious, persistent and conscientious in all aspects of learning.

  • The child will acquire a set of moral values on which to base his or her behaviour; for example, honesty, sincerity, personal responsibility and obligation.

  • The child will learn in an environment which upholds the virtues of Christianity, developing sensitivity and understanding of the culture and religious beliefs of others.

  • The development of personal and social skills will be encouraged to enable the child to become a responsible, caring citizen.

  • The school will foster close and harmonious relationships with parents and the local community.

Curricular Aims of Our School

The child will:

  • be encouraged to listen with concentration and understanding and should have the ability to speak clearly in description, explanation and narrative.

  • be able to select, and read with understanding, material appropriate to ability and interest.

  • be able to write confidently in a range of styles, appropriate to a variety of purposes.

  • have a sound understanding of the basic structures of mathematics and its practical applications.

  • develop a wide range of scientific and technological skills and knowledge, gaining experience in investigation and exploration.

  • gain a wide knowledge of the humanities, developing the ability to research and use first hand material and information.

  • be able to communicate feelings through a range of art forms (e.g., painting, music, drama, movement).

  • develop good co-ordination in all aspects of physical education, know how to play a variety of games and be able to swim.

  • become confident in information technology, utilising those skills throughout the curriculum.
