Achievements
Our school is an inclusive school and very proud to set ourselves challenging goals. We aim to set high standards in all areas of school life. As a consequence, we take part in a wide variety of activities and try to offer lots of experiences for our children.
Health Promoting School status
In July 2004, we were awarded the Cambridgeshire Health Promoting School status after working together as staff, children and parents on a variety of health related themes: Playtimes and lunchtimes, healthy eating and our drugs related curriculum. As a consequence of our work, we now have exciting and well used drawings and games painted on the playground (all designed or requested by the children), lots of playtime play equipment and ‘buddy system’; an established School Council system; healthy lunches and a whole school & community drugs policy.
In July 2007, we were awarded National Healthy Schools status by continuing our commitment to helping our youngsters to take healthy decisions. In October 2007, we saw the launch of our KS2 Healthy Eating Tuck Shop. This has since become so popular that it is open daily at playtimes. KS1 children are given a piece of fruit or vegetable as part of the 'free fruit' scheme.
Basic Skills Quality Mark
In July 2006 we were awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark (see further details in September 2006 and November 2006 newsletter). We aim to renew it in July 2009.
Musical Achievements
We proudly have several children taking recorder or flute music grades throughout the year. During 2006/7 we set ourselves the target to teach all children in Key Stage 2 how to play the recorder. We started with years 3 & 4 with many of them passing their preliminary exam or grade one at the end of the year. In 2007/8 we continued the programme with the next group of year 3 children as well as continuing with many of the previous year's children. This year we continue teaching the new Year 3, which means that many children in Years 3,4 and 5 regularly play. We have had to recruit extra helpers to manage teaching the growing numbers of musicians. We have extended the opportunities for our children this academic year - we now offer brass, clarinet, flute and violin tuition. The school continues to take part in the very popular annual music festival with local schools, performing in the Cresset Theatre in Peterborough.
Sporting Achievements
We take part in many local tournaments and leagues. This changes annually depending upon what is available and the staffing we have. Notable achievements include:
- We achieved the Activemark 2008, in December 2008 in recognition of the work we do in promoting physical activities
- Achieving FA Football Carter Standard in July 2007
- 3rd place in A1 Sports Competition June 2007 (unfortunately the 2008 competition was cancelled)

Rewards Systems
As part of our whole school procedures, we reward children for many positive reasons:
- Merits are given to recognise good behaviour, work and attitudes. When children complete a merit card (equal to 50 merit points) they are awarded an Achievement Certificate. Parents are invited to attend the presentation.
- Children's names are printed in the monthly newsletters.
- Headteacher's awards are given to children during Friday’s achievement assembly. Teachers nominate 2 children each week and share the reasons with everyone.
- Weekly Lunchtime awards given to 2 children each week for a variety of good/kind acts at lunchtimes. Names are printed in the monthly newsletters.
- Behaviour awards are given out during Friday's achievement assemby. Names are pulled at random from a treasure chest of 'golden tickets' that have been given out during the week for model behaviour at playtimes and in assemblies.
- Tidy Bear is presented to the tidiest class every week.
- Attendance Certificates are given termly as well as annually, to children achieving 100% attendance.
